My community actually has a Sunday service, Christmas Eve and Christmas day services along with several other religious holidays. These are done independently of management. The services are non-denominational, with guest speakers from through out the local community coming in, as well as a retired Minister who is a resident. We are a senior’s community so it is important to them. The hardest thing I have found is making them understand that we can not have religious paraphernalia lying around the community, and that we can not provide the set-up or break-down of the community room for their service. I finally gave up on trying to avoid prayer before our monthly breakfasts and luncheons. They revolted and refused to eat until someone blessed the meal
At my last family community I had members of the local Catholic Charity come in weekly to offer help to single parents as well as ESL classes. I honestly don’t see how anyone can be bothered by it. I am not a Christian and it doesn’t bother me.
If anyone were to ever bring up fair housing I feel confident we can show that no one has been discriminated against as we would allow any group the same privileges.
I wouldn't host a religious event in my clubhouse myself, but it would be discriminatory to prohibit residents from hosting events of their own faith. I have several residents who reserve the clubhouse for prayer groups and such.
