HI all my multi family peeps. I was hoping someone could help me with an intelligent response to give to one of my tenants that is really upset about the birds pooping on his car. I pride myself on finding a solution to my residents problems and will leave no stone unturned until I do, but this one was a real stumper. I have very limited parking and every assigned parking stall is taken so moving him is out. Anyone have any Ideas? I dont control the birds. LOL
Can you have the limbs that hang over his space trimmed back?? Maybe throw some bird seeds or bread in another area to keep the birds in that area?? This is a tough one, but it helped with our possums on campus as they were following food, we moved the picnic tables and and receptacles and no more possums ended up in our hallways. Good luck.
Have you seen "Steel Magnolias?" Shooting a gun into the trees every so often should scare the birds away and prevent them from pooping. Make sure you use blanks and not bullets because they will eventually fall and hit something.
From someone who can quote chapter and verse on "Steel Magnolias," use firecrackers! That is what they eventually used but wear ear protection because firecrackers are LOUD!
I had a similar situation happen to my car years ago with sea gulls. There were no tree limbs, etc. they were roosting on - they just loved to hit my car!
Have you spoken to your exterminator to see if they have any ideas for you? Are their wires that run across the parking lot? I saw the previous suggestion to trim back tree limbs above...great suggestion. There is a deterent that can be put down on ledges to keep birds from roosting if there is something there they are resting on. Your exterminator can assist!
If you don't have an issue with roosting and nothing is nearby, maybe a little humor would eventually win your resident over. Let him know you are on his side and how frustrating it must be. Maybe offer him a free car wash for the inconvenience - little things go a very long way! I had a property years ago that was next to the woods and a creek and I had to deal with snakes coming up into the property. I had to ask residents to remove all bird feeders from balconies and patios which helped. This may also help in your situation - if there is no food for them, they will eventually go elsewhere!
