As many of you know, both Saferent and Yardi Resident Screening (formerly RentGrow) integrate with Yardi. In several positions I've used Saferent. Have any of you or your companies switched from Saferent to Yardi Resident Screening? Do you find it superior if you have? Have you considered it and decided against it? I like Yardi as a software and like Saferent as a screening tool. I don't want to get complacent if there is a superior tool out there. Currently considering whether to switch.

Although not specifically answering your question I would like to offer that I am converting our properties from on-site to Rentgrow and so far have been very please. Our account manager is well-spoken, knowledgeable and great with training our sites.

In my research for a new screening company it came down to SafeRent or Rentgrow and I ended up going with Rentgrow due to the simplicity in keeping our vendors more streamlined. So far they have been best in class as well. Our property has noted that it is incredibly easy to use as well.

A quick question: when you say "keep our vendors more streamlined" do you mean that you prefer to use Yardi for both your prop mgmt software and screening, rather than have 2 separate companies? If so, is this due to the size of the company? Such as, you're a small company? Because I would only streamline vendors when the choice I'm using is absolutely the best one. My goal is to have the best and most powerful software available.

I personally use Yardi Residential Screening and I think it's great. The integration is amazing.

Thank you. While I really appreciate all these replies, I am hoping to hear more detailed info about why one software works for you vs. the other. With all due respect, saying "I like it," or unspecific things like that makes me wonder if a vendor asked people to respond to advertise their product.

Not to be snarky, but why would I want the nation's "original" screening? I certainly don't want AT&T's "original" telephone model or the "original" Ford car (a model T?). You might want to change your sales pitch.

Great question Chuck! I can think of a number of reasons. How about the fact that we invented the process and have been doing it, and improving it, since 1969? No other company in the market has withstood the test of time like we have. We have clients that we have served for over 40 years, not becuase they like our Model T, but because we've stood up for what is right and supported multifamily with the best customer service in the industry.

I would be thrilled for the chance to complete a head-to-head comparison for you!

I'll get with my marketing team about updating my pitch!

The word "snarky" isn't used often enough. Thanks for the chuckle.

While I appreciate your efforts, you will surely recognize that (a) I've never heard of your company, and having been in this business for years that means something; and that (b) major companies like Saferent aren't on this string--which is for fair and honest discussion--to run ads for themselves.

There are several screening companies that integrate with the Yardi Voyager platform.

It is my understanding that Yardi, upon request, will provide a complete list of all their integration partners, so property management companies can determine if their existing provider is already integrated. If not, they may choose from the list of existing providers or perhaps have their screening company work toward an integrated solution with Yardi.

To be honest, between the both I believe Saferent reports are more accurate and detailed. However, we recently changed over to a company called Screening Reports, and they are as good as saferent and cheaper. I also believe they integrate with any property management software. Try them out at www.screeningreports.com

Just so we can all get back on track, this discussion is about using Saferent vs. Yardi Residential Screening, not which programs will integrate with Yardi. Obviously many do. No harm done, I just think the discussion has trailed into other directions.

Interestingly, my conclusion so far is that no one really has any advice! Perhaps no one here has compared the two programs for ease and thoroughness?

This caught my attention for I have just crossed this path. I’ve had the opportunity to use both products, and SafeRent provides a far superior product.

My company made the decision to switch to Yardi software about a year ago. We also revisited screening. We looked carefully at both SafeRent, Track One, and Rent Grow as our options for screening. SafeRent was easily integrated with Yardi and data flows well between the two. Most importantly, during my due diligence I found the screening product with SafeRent is far superior. There is more control over the settings and the data collected provides better insight into trends, so I am not managing in the rearview mirror. Also, the level of customer service we receive from SafeRent is second to none! I never felt that my questions and concerns would be addressed through Rent Grow. Hope this helps!
