Has anyone ever received a grant to get new playground equipment? How big of a project is this and can you direct me to the agency that you received the grant from?
Kimberly - there are many options for funding for your playground. This will most likely require a conjoined effort between you, your Corporate Office or Owner, the city where you are located and the government/HUD.
In order to seek grant funding you must organize your Objective and you must provide documentation supporting your need and how you plan to meet the need. Ask yourself if you have to seek funding or can you add this project to your 5-Year Plan for capital improvements. Some grants required matching funding, so whatever you receive you must also match with property funds. When you are a for-profit (and I am no expert) there may be tax issues affiliated with receiving money elsewhere.
My first place to go has been to seek a Community Development Block Grant from HUD. Your property may qualify (especially if you are a Section 8 property)and I would suggest your project involve playgrounds modified for disabled individuals. You are more likely to receive funding for this type of playground improvement.
You will also need to know what your budget is. You may consider consulting with the playground equipment vendor(s). They may have great ideas to help you. I would also consider consulting your Congressional Representatives and local government officials who may have contacts and resources.
Playgrounds are a value added item! They provide a beautiful environment and encourage residents of all ages and abilities to interact, exercise and develop healthy habits.
I work for a playground company headquartered in New Jersey. We cover territory in the northeast and out west in California. By any chance are you located in any of these areas of the country? We're currently running a matching funds grant where we're helping customers extend their dollar to get more playground for their money.
Please let me know if I can be of ANY assistance to you.
