As traffic increases, so does the question: "Do you give discounts to...?"

There are a few communities in my market who actually advertise they give discounts to teachers and college students.

I don't offer discounts to anyone. When I answer their question with "No, I'm sorry, we don't." the look on their face says it all!!

In the past, just to be competetive, I told prospects who asked this question, "Yes, but it's a discount off the market rate and the current discount we are offering everyone is actually a better rate."

I just don't like the idea of giving a discount to certain people because they work somewhere. Why not give it to everyone?

What are you doing these days? Do you feel it's fair to offer a rent discount to some employees and not others?

Instead of rent, do you offer free app fees or lower deposits?

Just wondering.

I wouldn't offer 'corporate' discounts; what I would do is offer discounts for setting up automatic rent payments either through an employer (the military is an example) or through their bank; where they automatically send you a check for rent, or do an ACH transfer.

I would offer a 10% discount for that as it guarantees you will be paid.
