A few months ago a discussion was initiated regarding how the vendor and property management company communicates. It seemed by most of the comments that email was the way to go. Maybe the 2nd phase of this discussion has been brought up before perhaps, but I have some thoughts.
If a vendor respects this code of communication and continually uses email as the main way of corresponding, but receives ZERO replies after 6 months, I begin to wonder. We continue to discuss code of ethics topics when it comes to B2C, what about those standards being applied in a B2B relationship?
It seems rude to me not to reply to an email that's obviously asking for a response. I sometimes even reply to the ones that don't appear to require a response, just to make sure the sender knows I received it! If you've been emailing diligently for six months without a reply, though, I think it's time to follow up with a phone call, if for no other reason than to confirm that the email address you have is the correct one!
And yes, double standards are harsh. I'm sorry you're experiencing such difficulties. Keep in mind though, what goes around comes around ... I'm sure your professionalism will be its own reward in time.
Thanks Sara. I will qualify that a good percentage of the people I deal with are prompt with returning emails. So I am grateful to all of those folks. I have always been careful about phone calls, because to me those deserve an appointment first. But of course those are included, they are a definite part of the process.
Hi there, I guess there really are people who just doesn't care or just don't bother to email back. As for me, whenever I was sent an email I make sure that I would respond propmtly. Like you've said it's a matter of email etiquette.
