When your culture and values don’t align, your employees, tenants and business performance may suffer. As discussed at the CFAA Rental Housing Conference by Randy Daiter (M&R Properties) ideally, an organization’s core values explicitly define how people will behave with each other and the customers. How your teams feel coming to work shows in their productivity.
So how exactly can we keep our staff engaged and create a productive corporate culture? By Pulling rather than Pushing.
Pushing simply creates high stress levels, poor productivity and high turnover rates. Consider remaining aware of what naturally drives your team/ organization by these 3 steps:
1. Create the vision and environment. Work with great people to build a shared vision of what is to be achieved. What inspires them?
2. Involve staff in decisions and directions. Instilling a culture of feedback helps employees feel valued and builds trust in your work relationships. Pull with respect!
3. Engage and appreciate your employees by improving your communication skills, share consistent messaging and reward not only success but failure.
All employees have the right to be successful every time they do their job, and the part of doing their job is finding problems and making improvements. You just need to be authentic, communicate your vision, and care about your growing workforce. Allow them to ask questions and empower each individual. Stay calm, be direct, and utilize strengths and weaknesses. Collaboration is built on trust.
