When you are writing your blog posts, remember that you are not only writing for your readers, but you are also writing for Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc! For example, when you search for "low cost resident retention", the very first result is Jen Piccotti's blog post! Of course, it is always a balance with your current readers to make sure the title is creative and interesting, as well as friendly to search engines, so a bland, search engine-friendly title will probably do as much harm as good! But if you can combine an interesting title that is keyword-rich, you've done great!

This also applies to the text of your blog. Although estimates vary, many SEO experts say that your keyword should be approximately 3% of all your words in the blog. Any more than that, Google/etc will punish you for trying to game the system, but up to that point will definitely help with you exposure on the web!
