Does anyone have any carpet cleaning tips? We are struggling to keep spots out of the carpet. It seems like we have to steam vac the carpets once or twice per month. How much time should we be spending on carpets?
What color do you have in the units? I used to sell commercial flooring and a lot of communities are changing out carpet for LVT or they are selecting a darker shade of carpet and sometimes a light shag style because it hides stains
Mike Kaeding oh! Do you have elevators? Most of my clients would put LVT directly in front of the elevators and area rugs to catch the dirt, it helps keep the hallway carpets clean. Or if you’re speaking from the doors, LVT and area rugs to catch the dirt, it will cut down on the dirt carried to the hallways!
White vinegar. A lot of spots are from soap residue attracting dirt. White vinegar instead of soap (mix same amount as soap per you machine) will pull out that and leave them nice and clean. Our carpet guy taught me this.
I put a scoop of OxyClean directly into my shampooer water. Then shake it up before locking it into the machine. Works great! If I have any hard stains I'll dump part of a scoop of it right onto the stain and make it into a paste with some water. Then shampoo over it last.
Use a pre-treat spray before cleaning but also make sure that all of the cleaning solution is being removed. Cleaning solution is designed to grab dirt and when it isn’t properly removed from the carpet during cleaning then it can end up contributing to a dirty carpet more quickly.
