I'm not sure there is an online tutorial for Yardi, simply because it costs big bucks for a license to use Yardi. However, I am sure there are "cheat sheets" for different functions. What version do you need help with? I may be able to help you. I guess I could be wrong, but if you interview with a company, I am not sure they'll make you demonstrate your expertise, will they? If they know it's been a couple of years, they'll expect a bit of learning on a curve, I would think.
I am not sure which version they would be using. I just responded to a post that said: " All applicants will be required to pass a basic YARDI exam."
I guess what I am looking for is a refresher on the basics:
Entering traffic.
Entering work orders.
Processing rents.
Processing deposits.
Processing applicants.
Moving in applicants.
Moving out residents and calculating move out charges.
Processing payables.
I am leaving for an interview in a few minutes that is a broken condo deal: Of 272 total units, 116 are OWNED by private owners under an HOA, and the balance of these will be run as rentals under a PMC. Of the 156 under the PMC, 63 need rehab and will undergo a lease up upon completion.
Happy Monday! I hope your interview went well! I hve to say, I have never been asked to take a quiz on property software and unless the version is the same, I will not be able to send you screen shots either. I think once you see a screen shot on the quiz, you most likely will not have any problems selecting an answer or completing the task. Personally, in my opinion, I would not hold it against a candidate if they weren't "quite there yet" on the software as I would think there should be some level of training on this. I wish I could be of more help!
Enter traffic through the Applicant screen.
There is almost always a separate work order system and it will be clearly labeled. If it is the older version of Yardi, then it gets entered through the Payables drop down menu.
Rents are entered as Receivables, also clearly marked. You should enter all receipts in a Batch. Once those receipts are entered, you hit Report, then Post, and this will produce the Deposit Receipt.
In order to move someone into Yardi, they are first entered as a Traffic, then updated when they apply. Once processed you fill in all the pertinent info and hit the move in button. I knw this sounds simplistic but it would be hard to explain it in words if you don't have the system to look at the screen!
Good luck! I would also love to hear how others would tackle this refresher question.
I am hoping that someone out there is willing to share a cheat sheet for Yardi that covers many of the common tasks mentioned above. Contacting Yardi is not any help as they only want to assist 'licensed' users.
There is not a book in the 'For Dummies' or the 'Idiot's Guide' series...... Not really looking for a novel, or even the whole user guide; what I am hoping for is the equivalent of a 'Cliff's Notes' (who the heck is Cliff anyway???)
Be cautious, they only draw back is depending on what and how much you want the PM to learn it can start to add up very fast even at only $75 per class.
It's not as if I need to take training on YARDI as I do not know anything; the problem is that I have not been at a property that has used YARDI in more than 2 years. I simply would like a refresher for the basics that could be covered in a 'cheat sheet' or 'Cliff's Notes' version of the user guide. I would prefer not to be put into a position to have to pay for it.
I used Yardi old version about 10 years ago and then I had tranning Yardi Voyager about two years ago and since then, I haven't use the system. I will have interview next week and I need company who can refresh one-on one tutoring. Please help me.
