GoToMeeting vs. Adobe Connect 8 was created by Brianne
Hey All,
As a company we've been using GoToMeeting for training and sales. GoToMeeting has gotten "buggy" over the past little while. For instance, team members get booted off the meeting, can't call in or their code doesn't work.

We're now looking at Adobe Connect 8. I met with a rep today, and liked what I saw. Has anyone gone from GoToMeeting to Adobe Connect 8? What were your likes/dislikes?

Thanks!

We do a whole lot of webinars. I tried GoToMeeting, WebEx, ReadyTalk, and a few others. I have not tried Adobe Connect 8. We have been pleased with WebEx for over two years. I recommend trying WebEx before making a decision on Adobe. www.WebEx.com

Hi Brianne,
I agree with you completely about GoTo. We are having more and more sound issues and people getting booted off. I'm ready to find a replacement and will take a look at Adobe. (Webex was much too expensive comparatively when we last checked)

I agree!
I liked that we could do more branding with Adobe Connect. With GoToMeeting we can only upload a logo. Adobe Connect let's me personalize the meeting room, and bring in the Twitter feed.
BUT we have been using GoToMeeting for quite a while. Switching all of our employees to Connect might be a bit of a pain. >.<
Anyone else have suggestions?

I have tried the free version of this new product called join.me it is from the same people who developed Efax.com and I have used that service for 10 years without fail

We were using Adobe Connect, but we were having ongoing technical issues so we switched to Webex. We have had better success from Webex but there are some basic features such as customizing times of reminders I wish it had.

On a different note, compliance might be a consideration. If you upload documents, how important is it that those documents are not accessible to those who do not have permissions?

I will not go into the technical details because it is complicated, but my conclusion was that WebEx offered the best passive security. If security is a concern, you might involve your IT Department in the decision.

Perhaps WebEx costs more for this reason - not sure.

Watching a webinar using Instant Presenter . Seems like a really neat system! Anybody else tried it out?

I haven't tried Adobe, but I have used GoToMeeting and Webex. If you are hosting Webinars for the general public GoToMeeting is much more user friendly than Webex for en users trying to attend a webinar. With Webex I received calls all the time from people who couldn't figure out how to join the meeting (despite the link that was provided).

Regarding GoToMeeting bugs, have you checked your computer settings? Firewalls? Sometimes security settings have bad interactions with online meeting platforms. Haven't experienced any myself.

Would be curious to hear about user's experiences with Adobe 8. Adobe is a great company, but they are new to this space.

Just to consider a different solution for this - have you, or has anyone else, considered just using Skype? For training purposes, and for corporate connectivity - I can't think of anything better. It's quick, it's free, it's mobile and it can be expanded easily for group connectivity. Almost everyone with a computer or even a smartphone has Skype, if not they could download it free and easy.

I don't know what type of sales your company is engaged in; but I would imagine that many of your prospective clients have Skype , if not - it might make more sense to use a lesser-volume version of WebEx, Adobe or GoToMeeting. Being skype-friends with prospective clients really would help take down a communication barrier - potentially you would be a click away from a semi-face to face conversation at any time.

On the subject of security and compliance. The US military uses Adobe Connect. It's quite secure.

GoToMeeting's interface is more straightforward, compared to WebEx. Adobe is nice but pricy.
You may consider <I like to spam my company>. It allows you to do branding as Adobe does. And its interface is as simple as GoToMeeting.
