We are a small property management company with about 2400 units that is looking to get our name out there to aquire management of more properties. We primarily manage affordable housing with USDA Rural development, HUD and Tax Credit, but do have some conventional market rate properties as well. We are primarily just in Iowa but would like to branch out to other surrounding states. We would also like to aquire more conventional market rate properties. What are some good ways to market our company to investors and get our name out there? Thanks for your input.

Hi Matt,

My name is Pedro Maysonet and I own the Maysonet Group LLC, which same as your company, is a small management company based in Florida. We have been very successful in growing by simply word of month and minimal advertisement. A good place to network is here on MFI and LinkedIN. Call your current clients and see if they can recommend you to other companies or provide you additional contacts. In addition, you can pay for leads, which has been good for us entering Georgia state at wwww.allpropertymanagement.com. Of course, getting contacts and leads is not the difficult part, is knowing the market and understanding each sites chanllenges. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi Matt - Since you are a regional company, I would suggest posting a couple of conversation starters in the Iowa Landlord Association group and the other states you are trying to enter. In general, you want to create posts that inspire conversation and let people get to know your personality, without "marketing" to them. Right now, our state groups are in somewhat of a holding pattern while we work on upgrades, so you might not think there is much value in them. However, as as get things going with them, you can position yourself as a leader in those areas as they grow.

Also, you might want to consider using your actual picture in your profile. People connect to actual pictures quicker than they do to anything else!

Good luck!

Hi-Matt,

I would create some marketing videos of highlighting your company success and the communities post them on YouTube and all Social Media sites. Also connect with your local Housing Authorities and local business leaders. Many cities will have a Local Business Leader Clubs look into joining one in the areas you have communities. This will be a great way to network. Also another thing you can do is get involved in the city council meetings in each area you have properties. Every chance you have to talk about your management company is a marketing opportunity. Have residents/clients write testimonials on your company website or social media sites. Also MFI & Linkedin are great sites for networking! Good Luck! P.S Just for fun you could take out a Build board advertisement saying "Wanted a Property to Manage".
