It’s only effective for the time you take it. They have to adult enough to go home if sick.

We provided each property with a thermometer and ask each employee to take their temp when they arrive for work. It’s imperfect for some of the reasons stated above, but we believe it helps.

We do it daily and take a well-being statement. Recommended for phased reopening plan. I’m happy to share to log or plan with anyone.

We trust them and ask them not to come to work sick. You know if you have a fever.

Tom Hardwick ha. We’ve always said it is a simple business we make hard. We are landlords- we cut grass, fix your toilet and collect your rent. How did we end up as tax experts, social workers or managing files with 60 third party verified documents to determine if someone is eligible? It’s been a great career!

Nys it’s required. Already had 2 employees that didn’t know they had fevers and sent home. Do yourself a favor - take their temperatures - keep your staff and your residents safe. Not that hard , keep a log , also will help protect you when the lawsuits start.

Hire a nurse to do it. People with pre-existing conditions carry higher temps, doesn’t mean they are sick with Covid. A novice office staff member May misinterpret this and attempt to deny entry or access to work. I smell a potential law suit.

Because there are cases that don’t develop fevers, would it be more effective to purchase a pulse oximeter and check oxygen level instead?

I think the purpose is to show you are trying to do something....
We have started taking temperatures and have a series of questions we ask. The PM in charge of it. The log is turned into HR weekly.
I got the spreadsheet from one of the HR groups I follow if anyone wants a copy.

Danielle Chapman exactly. It gives teams at least some confidence that those they are working with aren’t symptomatic. Notice I didn’t say “don’t have COVID.” I’m fully aware someone can be asymptomatic. Our teams appreciate the effort even if it doesn’t guarantee anything.

IDK I’m torn, one of the nurses at my doctors office got the COVID, little too close to home for me! I see my doctor every month ???? y’all are together everyday and all it takes is one person not taking precautions. I admire you guys on site I would not want to step in those shoes again ???? stay safe!

I am surprised to hear that you haven't started taking temperatures before entering the office. We have been since March as it is CDC guidelines. The purpose is not to pretend you are doing something, the purpose is to protect your employees and your clients/customers/renters. If someone has minimal symptoms and has, unbeknownst to them most likely, Covid19 and they are on property it then spreads from your staff to your renters to a random passerby and so on and so on. If I knew that proper precautions were being taken, I would think twice before entering the office thus potentially losing a lease. I would also wonder if you are not taking precautions, what else is missed or not cleaned in the unit during turnover. Taking temperatures twice a day takes about 4 seconds per person. We all have 4 seconds to spare!

I’ve heard of several cases where temp spikes suddenly. The temp should not create a certain security of it is normal when tested.

We are having employees log temps visible for only HR. If you look at countries who have done well temperature scans at every location you enter and masks.

Fevers aren’t a guaranteed symptom; that’s true. But it’s 1) the most common and 2) the only symptom you can verify. Is it a perfect plan? Nope. But speaking as someone who has been operating with the thermometers for several weeks, it’s helpful.

IMO, no one should be at work when they have a fever anyway - no matter what is causing the fever. A fever means your body is fighting off an infection. Stay home if feverish. Send home if showing up with a fever.

For those that are doing this, I’ve seen a few, how are your firms managing the HIPPA laws regarding protected medical information (since temperature readings are considered protected information) and who has access to the results of the temperature scans?

Yes it helps not 100% but automatically send home if fever is present... It's combination of precautions that help.... Washing hands, cleaning surfaces , knobs, handles, steering wheels, wearing masks, social distancing... Basics can go a long way in helping... Oh last but not least ???? Pray

I sell TempScreen temperature scanning kiosks to help companies ensure that visitors and employees do not have an elevated temperature as they enter the workplace. The TempScreen kiosk provides accurate readings within a few seconds to +/- 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit. An elevated temperature is an indicator of many infectious viruses not just Covid. We have the kiosk set up at my office at both entrances and I feel safer knowing every single person who enters my office building is screened, not just my colleagues. Message me if you would like more information.

From what I understand, one of the big challenges with COVID-19 is that it is transmissible even before any symptoms appear, including a temperature. In fact, I heard that it's peak transmission time is potentially before symptoms. So while this might be a "better than nothing" situation, everybody should understand what it will and won't help with.

I am not a fan of this. First of all, privacy rights. Secondly, people can run fevers for many different reasons. i.e. menstrual, menopause, overheated from being out in 100 degree heat. Anyone who takes Tylenol will not show a fever. I think we need to be civilized adults. We have always kept our distance from anyone with cold/flu symptoms. Keep doing the same. The media is freaking too many people out. When most people run high fevers, they usually don't want to come to work.

Do it for your own peace of mind and safety of everyone at the office. If residents at buildings in New York are being tested as they walk in, why not office staff? Someone may have a fever and not even realize it.

California - we take temperatures of employees each morning and any vendors that will be working inside of an apartment home. We use Time & Attendance through Paychex and have set up question prompts for each employee at clock in and clock out asking if they have a fever or symptoms etc. Just a daily reminder for us all to do a self check.

Wow, that's awesome! I went to a doctor's appointment yesterday and the "check-in" consisted of just asking me questions about symptoms, no temperature check. This is in Texas, of course.
