Units Magazine
Rent and Retain
Multifamily Exec

Those are the three as far as mags that I trust most. But one of the great things about living in the age we do is that it's not just about magazines or what comes in the mail any more.

There is more information on this site just from the bloggers than you will find in any given month of periodical reading. As with any internet content, you have to take in to account the source and whether or not it is credible, but trust me, if someone on this site thinks what you've posted isn't the truth, or the truth as they see it, they will LET YOU KNOW. Which, frankly, is an awesome thing :) Also, I've so far, never seen a blog on this site that gave poor advice or steered anyone in the wrong direction. Us multifamily types, we have this darned driving force of social responsibility and accountability for what we write and say. Must come from signing so many leases over the years :)

Any books Heather you would reccommend? I was thinking of buying some books as gifts for the companies I have appointments with this week.

Not to crash the party but I am reading a good one called: The Brand Bubble - John Gerzema and Ed Lebar. While not specific to the industry there is some very good info on the shifting buying habits of consumers. Good cross-applicable info.

See you in Vegas! M

Great books for gifts-
Word of Mouth Marketing by Andy Sernovitz - Very powerful and easy to read with great advice and an interesting point of view
Groundswell - Always appreciated
"Whoever Makes The Most Mistakes Wins" by Farson and Keyes - this is a great book, especially for the current economy and it's full of encouragement
The Exceptional Presenter by Timothy J. Koegel - LT turned me on to this book and it's just AMAZING! if you know anyone who's a presenter, it's the perfect gift, supposing they don't already have a copy :)
ANYTHING by Seth Godin
Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi - this is one of my favorite books of all time. He just released a new one, but I haven't picked it up yet.
The Levity Effect: Why it Pays to Lighten Up by Adrian Gostick and Scott Christopher - Great easy read with powerful information about the importance of humor and less stress in the work place
Also I would recommend any of the "Carrot" manager books by Gostick

These aren't industry specific books either, but they're all really really great. You can also get a few more ideas from my blog booklist at behindtheleasingdesk.com/2008/11/14/heat...oklist-for-2008.aspx Most of them are pretty good titles, even if I haven't had time to post a review of them yet :)

For industry news The Atlanta Business Chronicle is probably the best source of information for me. The Atlanta Apartment Association publishes "Habitat" Magazine monthly, but the true real estate info is in the Chronicle. They have versions in most other cities.

Like Heather, my other reading includes anything by Malcolm Gladwell and Seth Godin.
