If you divided the multifamily industry into 4 or 5 categories, what would they be? For example, you could potentially say "Property Management", "Multifamily Investment", "Construction & Development", etc... How would you segment the industry?

If I would segment the multi-family business in 5 sections, it would be as follow:

1. Development
a. Real Estate Acquisition
b. Sub-Market Evaluation
c. Due Diligence
d. Finance
e. Construction

2. Management
a. Financial Planning
b. Property Positioning
c. Management Planning
d. Regulation Monitoring
e. Staffing
f. Expense and Budget Control

3. Contract Labor
a. Apartment Maintenance
b. Landscape Design a
c. Amenities Maintenance

4. Sales and Marketing
a. Market Analysis
b. Creative Marketing
c. Neighborhood Outreach

5. Customer Service

a. Residents
b. Applicants
c. Vendors

These are the areas I would indentify as segments of the multi-family business.

Thanks,
Pedro

I think the majority of blogs on MFI are centered around Leasing/ Marketing. So seperating up the blogs may do very little when all the blogs will fall under one category unless you think it will bring more blogs about other things such as the items Pedro listed.

Look at the blogs from this week... All about leasing/ resident retention/ and marketing all of which would fall under one or possibly two categories at the most. If it is needed I do agree w/ pedro's list... it makes the most sense to me to seperate it up this way.

Thanks Chrissy - I agree with you that we definitely have a leaning towards leasing/marketing content. But I think that gives the false impression that all of our members are on that track. In reality, we have a very diverse group here, but many non-leasing Insiders are not being taken care of as much as we'd like! So by having a differentiation, we hope that more content will spring up in these other areas...

I think Pedro that you need to add Training and Auditing to your list (which is very good by the way)...
