I spotted this on Twitter and can't help but think there's an application here for multifamily communities!
<<A Dutch supermarket chain introduced slow checkouts for people who enjoy chatting, helping many people, especially the elderly, deal with loneliness. The move has proven so successful that they installed the slow checkouts in 200 stores.>>
Imagine if our staffing levels were such that on-site teams had the time and space for those residents who want to linger and chat endlessly...without the teams feeling distracted by the need to tackle their To Do lists? If visiting with residents WAS their To Do list?
Don't get me wrong; I recognize that on-site teams do exactly this all day long. I'm just longing for a world in which they had more time and less pressure so it was easier to do it! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

This reminds me of when I was the green leasing consultant, and the team had me handle the talkers. I think it was partly because I'm a super patient person, but maybe because I wasn't burnt out. But some of those people were just lonely and wanted to chat, and at the time I had absolutely no problem avoiding "work" to talk with them!
