I have a friend/former work colleague (from before I worked for the apt. community) who still lives at the apartment community where I now work. Recently she's been growing unhappy with the community, to the point that she wants to leave (and, apparently, told the other office staff that she'd be telling other folks how much better her new complex is, etc.). Today she posted on my personal Facebook wall that she and "another resident" were talking and "decided [I'm] the only good thing about [the apartment community]." The post makes me EXTREMELY nervous because, while I appreciate the compliment (I *guess*) ... that's just putting our community in a terrible light. I know I can't get in trouble for what she said, but I don't quite know what to do with that post. Ignore it? Can I say "thank you, even though I disagree"? Do I remove it even though I know it would cause drama with this person?!

Any thoughts? And, along that line ... how do you deal with the line between personal and public on Facebook when it comes to working in the multifamily industry? (i.e., Do you ever have to "edit" or "censor" your friends because of how it could affect your work?)

Thank her for her kind words, then pay it forward by mentioning some of the things done by other staff members that help you look successful. That way, you defend the community without disagreeing with your friend.
