And has anyone gotten their page merged? I have used places....it could be fun. I had a "charity deal" on it to donate to a pet food bank for anyone who checked in, but no one checked in during the time frame (it was only a couple of days as a test run). You can put limits on your "deals" and I think it will be a great way to cross market with some of your associates if you can get someone to give something of value to your current residents.
I know you can use it for future residents pretty easily... you can offer a waived app fee for "checking in" and get a sign that indicates that is available. The more people check in, the more exposure your property gets because it shows up on their personal wall.
I've successfully merged one property so far. Still waiting for Facebook on the others. I also have a few outstanding that I'm having a difficult time claiming. I believe it's because they are new construction and not recognized in a lot of databases yet.
Anywho, I think cross marketing with local businesses and charity deals are probably the best way to use it. Unfortunately you can only run one deal at a time. It would be great to have a deal running that caters to current residents and another for future residents. Lots of potential though!
I'm curious Mark, do you like the way it looks when merged? I've heard you lose your welcome tabs and such? To me this is not such a big deal because people only visit your welcome tab ONCE. I have been waiting on mine to merge for weeks. Gotta try to claim my others but since I don't work on site I have to coordinate it with the teams there.
It's fine with me. You do lose the ability to have a custom landing tab, but that's not an issue for me with these property pages. We're keeping the J.C. Hart brand page unmerged though so we can still have the custom tab.
I've been too busy checking in on FourSquare and MISO. Miso is another excellent idea. In case you haven't heard of it it's checking into TV shows and Movies. I've had more people comment on those posts than FourSquare ones. Why? Good chance people have no clue about where I'm eating but know all about Glee.
Yes, we have just started to use Facebook places! Currently, we are very active with Foursquare, but wanted to reach out to the crowd that uses Facebook as well. It has been a little difficult to get all of our properties on Facebook Places (because of the complexity of claiming venues), however we are very close to having our entire SW portfolio on board. I really like Facebook Places and have found it to be an easy and fun way to interact with new prospects and current residents.
I use facebook places but I don't know how to merge it with my page. I haven't even figured out how to convert my facebook page into a business page despite many attempts... Someday I will figure it out!
I realize your frustration! I was able to merge one of our communities, but the rest are giving me problems. I also have not been able to find much help on Facebook.com. It seems that there are also other people having the same issue. If you would like some help, I would be happy to Skype with you and go over a few things. Just let me know!
If there is more than one "Place" with the name, it won't merge the page. So if you added it and one of your residents did, then they won't merge. I claimed the "other" place and deleted it and now I'm waiting to see if I can merge my pages. We'll see!!
