I am a Housing Manager in Newport News, Virginia. We've received multiple reports of bed bugs across our property. I searched these forums and the interwebs for an educational/informative letter to my residents about a bed bug problem we're having at our community. There is a wealth of information online but could not find a letter I could just "gank" and use for my property. Feel free to remove our information and plug your in. This cut down on the amount of "unreported" cases across our property as several residents stated that they attempted to curb the problem on their own. As we all know how difficult this problem is to combat, knowing what you're dealing with is a big help. I hope this helps some other managers as this is a very difficult issue to deal with. I advise all property managers in the multi-family field to become experts on bed bugs, you do not have a choice.
Thank you for generously sharing your letter. I am seeing the need to create a letter to send to residents who are temporarily a rehab facility b/c our community's bed bug occurrences were brought in by residents returning home after extensive stays in physical rehab after falling or stroke. I manage a senior apartment building.
I've found out that hospitals and rehab facilities are breeding grounds for bb's.
