I'm generally not a big fan of the summer pool party, but Kara Rice of Grace Hill made a really interesting comment in her presentation at GAA this past week. I don't have an audio clip, so I'll have to summarize the best I can:
Essentially, Kara said that pool parties can be more effective now since people can't afford as many trips with the poor economy.
I don't know if pool party attendance is up this year, but it's an interesting concept! In general, I like the ideas that offer residents what they are currently needing most. Like Kara pointed out, a pool party might have a significant impact on somebody who is struggling and doesn't have any money to pamper them self. Also, if you are seeing a lot of evictions or skips because of job loss, what about making that service a higher priority? Use your resources to help your residents find a way to pay their rent and it's a win for everybody.
Thank you Kara for a great session! (and if I misquoted you, please let me know!)
