Sometimes we need a reminder that our multifamily industry is one of the best in the world
I was having lunch with Chelsea Kneeland last week and we were talking about how the career trajectory of multifamily often starts with leasing.
As we always say that “people lease from people they like”, it infused our industry from the very beginning with a sense that in order to be successful, one has to be kind, supportive, and positive. When an industry consistently hires “bubbly” salespeople, it is going to become the core of that industry as they rise through their career.
And although there are surely repercussions to that, I would say on the whole it has been an incredibly positive force, creating something truly magical.
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard from newcomers to the industry exclaim how uniquely different our space is, creating a place where we all feel we are in this together.
Multifamily isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. It has challenges that weigh on us and surely cause burnout.
But I think at our core, our multifamily industry has an ethos so unlike most any other industry. So while sometimes we get frustrated, sometimes we get angry, and surely sometimes our residents get frustrated and angry at us, I always want to step back and remember that this industry is absolutely amazing.
I appreciate all of you, and thank you for making this space such a force for good.
This is so true! Our industry is full of bright, kind, and caring people, and much of that is built on the initial step into multifamily is most often leasing.
What a unique and wonderful culture that builds!
