How many of you do random drug testing of your onsite employees?
(Reference: immediate terminations for positive tests vs staff shortage and no budget for temps, staff already stretched thin with tons of overtime).
Our state has strict laws on this, 1. unless you are aware of or 2. suspect an employee has a drug problem-the employee can file a lawsuit against you. Even if they get hurt on the job you can not automatically send them unless they fall under 1 or 2.
I’ve been doing this 30 years and never had a company random test. I’ve only heard of another manager requesting it because she suspected the leasing person was abusing pain pills.
