Does anyone have any experience with allowing birds as pets? It's two birds in a cage, and I feel like it would be fine. I'm not sure what problems they could cause, but would love to hear some feedback! Would you allow them?

I have worked in a couple of communities where they are on the list of unapproved animals. If it doesn’t say it specifically in your lease you should probably be ok.

Fair housing laws state if it's a support animal(s). You have to allow.
Pet wise? I'd be ok while following pet rules and fees.

You need to regulate that they be kept in the cage and not allowed to be flying around the apartment. I had one that destroyed all the blinds -chewed them to pieces, and sh!t all over the walls!

If you allow birds, some types of birds should be given serious consideration before allowing. Parrots especially, and maybe some others, can be quite loud, and could easily be a noise complaint issue.

One of the things we have about caged animals is that they have to be kept in a habitat that is the correct size, and that the residents need to be taking appropriate care of them (including such things as noted above: keeping bedding clean, making sure any messes are handled, etc.) We do require a small deposit, limit it to 2 animals per cage (with the exception of fish, where we limit it to a number that fits healthily in a 20-gallon container) but don't include pet rent. Obviously, excessive noise from any pet is an issue, but that's already in the lease.

...and nothing
