With what kind of frequency are you in contact with your residents? What works best without exhausting your budgeted money and time?

If you haven't written out and committed to a plan for 2009 this is the best time to do it. Writing it down helps your team make a more concreted commitment to the plan and will help your resident retention numbers soar!

I would add that using each resident contact to its fullest potential should be a part of the resident contact plan. It's a great opportunity to do a quick check of:

- Is this number, xxx-xxxx, still the best way to reach you?
- What's the best email address to contact you?
- Is there anything in your home that needs attention from our team?

Our research has found that over 85% of residents will provide contact information when asked. This practice of asking for the contact information also facilitates your resident contact plan throughout the year so that you have the ABILITY to contact them.
