A few of my managers have requested reading material in the areas of marketing, leasing, brainstorming, etc. With the wide array of information out there, what books would anyone suggest? I am WIDE OPEN to suggestions. Thank you ahead of time.

I suggest a subscription to Rent and Retain magazine by Mindy Williams. She also has about 8 books out that are also GREAT resources.

I'd also suggest hopping on Twitter and joining the multi family voices on there. Lots of great discussions and new ideas!

I echo Heather's thoughts on Twitter.

As far as books go - Purple Cow by Seth Godin would be a good primer. I would recommend reading all of his books and then subscribe to his blog.

Hi.
I would recommend TRIBES by Seth Godin as well as Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff.

Hi Mike-Thanks. Biggest take away: the consumer is in CONTROL of the transaction and we need to listen to what they have to say. B-

Powerful message - would you agree that response is key in that equation as well?

I recommend picking up something from Tom Peters. He had a 4 book series in 2005 that was very good.

These are all great suggestions, I'll have to print out this discussion and remember to pick up these authors, especially Seth Godin!

If you are looking for current how-to guide with examples of successful social media initiatives, I recommend 33 Million People in the Room by Juliette Powell.

I recommend Mavericks at Work to every business leader I come in contact with. The authors are the editors of Fast Company. If anyone who knows me is reading this post, they are likely rolling their eyes since I talk about this book all the time. READ IT. Lots of crossover lessons for our industry.

Just finished Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell. Highly recommend the chapter on Korean Air. Lots of crossover lessons for MFI's.

Currently reading A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule The Future by Daniel H. Pink. Basic premise is companies can't outsource creativity.
