How many of your companies or properties subscribe to "Rent and Retain" and things of the like? Do you get your properties their own subscriptions? I see the amazing benefits of doing so, but am curious as to whether the companies see a profit (even just in enthusiam, etc) to the choice? What feedback are managers giving to having acces to strong resources like this?
...Am trying to justify the cost to the top...
Thanks, everyone.
Rent and Retain as a publication is one of the best ones out there in the industry. As a manager, you gain insight and idea springboards on everything from talent retention to resident retention to marketing and more. I've never received a copy that didn't give me at least 5 good ideas and inspire 6 or 7 new ones of my own. Without new ideas, organizations die. Pretty simple on that math.
Besides, you're talking about $79 a YEAR here. That's like $6.58 cents a month per property. Come on. We spend more on COFFEE than that in a WEEK.
Mindy puts out a great mag, and I also advise you to keep every issue in a binder. Back issues are still great for getting and creating new ideas!
I agree with Heather on this one - it's a small price to pay for some great content. In the same respect sending people to MFI is a small price to pay for some great content.
If you can't convince the powers that be, send your people here.
Thanks Heather and Mike! I got started ordering Rent and Retain back order issues and fell in love with the accessability for my property managers... great concrete ideas to actualize and capitalize upon. Any other suggestions of quick and easy reads with the same type of bullet-point info that I can get them?
Might I offer a gentle piece of advice - doing trumps reading all day long. That is not to discount the value of reading, I think everyone should chew up a book or two a week along with a healthy dose of blogs and tweets. But at the end of the day - execute, execute, execute on three to five good ideas. Do them better than anyone else.
Mike, I'm hearing your gentle reminder... I'm a huge reader, and I can get overwhelmed QUICKLY by all the things I want to do...:woohoo:
I'm looking for good bullet points with a strong, positive, feel good quality to motivate people and reaffirm why they are great at what they do.
I am startintg my own mobile industry library from the back of the durango and am looking to expand the lending options.
That is a tremendous idea and a great car too. Contrary to what I just penned - anything Og Mandino is fully inspiration. The Greatest Miracle in the World is my fav.
Tara,
Rent and Retain is one of the best quick reads, with a ton of ideas that work! It is focused on increasing occupancy, understanding your market, working within your budget and generating more traffic. Tough times call for the very best people to rise to the top, they need tools and inspiration.
If you are looking for pricing solutions, sales techniques for the slow economy, marketing ideas that will create instant traffic and tips on how you can hang on to every resident, Rent and Retain is that source.
It is worth every penny! At $79 a year---that's 21 cents a day!
