Hi everyone! I’m curious if anyone has any recommendations on cleaning products that work well to remove stains in bathtubs? Recently we have been encountering them quite frequently and resurfacing costs add up quickly *we resurfaced the tub pictured below, however my main concern is the dark spots that build up around the textured floors*

Britni Michelle Ruiz, we use that too! The gel kind. It works wonders, even on white counter tops.

That appears to be etched into the porcelain which isn't going to clean off. You have to be able to recognize what is on the surface vs what is down into the surface.

Miles Scruggs we ended up getting this one resurfaced after all. My main concern is the black spots that appear around the textured bottom.

Austin Roy Do you actually have the resurfacing last? We never see it hold more than a couple years.

Miles Scruggs honestly I have only been at this property for 7 months, however the number of tubs that look like the attached picture at Move Out is pretty high. Typically I wait for the cleaners to see if they are able to fix it, however I was unsure if it was just that my residents are neglectful or if the quality of work our vendors are performing was just sub par.

Austin Roy that doesn’t look like that tub has ever been refinished. Failure of finishing typically happens by peeling.

I use Bar Keepers Friend on literally everything!!! Have the surface wet and let it soak a bit - use a strong scrubby sponge… works wonders!! I use this stuff on sinks, toilet bowls, even flat top stoves - and no, it doesn’t scratch!!

That is an acrylic or resin plastic tub, not porcelain. The outer coating is a glorified form of either acrylic, epoxy or fiberglass plastic without the glass fibers.. Epoxy and acrylic can be sanded buffed polished....think car paint. Most fiberglass composite resins are softer.I say all that and you can chemically clean as described above, then come in with a WET polisher sander and likely remove the rough gritty layer that remains.

Get a $40 electric buffer from a auto parts place, little rubbing compound and polishing compound, 20 min worth of work, will be good as new. Had one with a huge red stain, company thought they were going to have to replace it. 20 min later I walked into the office telling them it was done. They didn’t believe me! When we went back over to look at it they couldn’t believe it was the same tub!
