Tenant keeps complaining of a pink residue in their toilet as well as a brown spot that won’t go away. What I have read says it’s airborne and must be cleaned and contained with bleach. They said they’ve tried to do that to no avail.
Has anyone else experienced this ?
Suggestions? Solutions?
Can the air itself be treated?
FYI. No other tenant in the building or complex has this issue.

I have had this issue and always use bleach. Then if that doesn’t work then replace toilet and then keep track of the calls for the same issue in that apartment. If it keeps coming back then the resident isn’t cleaning properly.

If it's stains due to hard water deposits you can try muriatic acid

straight peroxide, do not dilute. Walgreens has it in a spray bottle. Spray it on and let it set for a few minutes. This is also good on old porcelain tubs.

Call the water department. We had similar situation and water department said it was an algae and not harmful. They said to run the brush around the bowl every few days.
