In working with thousands of multifamily professionals, I can tell you that many incredibly good associates are just done. They're feeling buried, stressed and overwhelmed with:The amount of tasks they have to doThe amount of "prop tech" they have to manage (that was supposed to make their life easier, but isn't)The amount of leads they need to sift through (many of whom aren't even good leads)The demands of today's customer (who is even more ...
When it comes to being the best LEADER you can be…Communication is the transportation that will get you there. And by communication I mean your ability to connect with the people that you lead. If you're not a good communicator...Every other part of your leadership is going to be harder than it needs to be. We all go through times at work when we feel hidden. When you work really hard, but no one notices. When you're the best qualified for the promotion, but someone else gets it instead. When everyone else seems to be getting celebrated, but you just keep getting blamed for everything. These times of feeling hidden can be extremely frustrating, discouraging and just plain, awful. But here is what I've discovered in my c ...
You know that sinking feeling you get when you experience symptoms that might be wrong with your health, but you also don't want to see your doctor about it?Maybe it's because you're too busy, you're worried about the cost, you're afraid of what your doctor will say, or you think it'll get better on its own. Well, just as a lot of medical issues won't get better on it's own, the same thing is true with leadership issues.. ...
Selling is one of the most AWKWARD things anyone can do. Because, asking someone for money is awkward. Asking someone you don't know for money is awkward. This is why so many people struggle in selling! (Sales managers, please read that previous sentence again!)I was told, "Just sell better" so many times in my career. My problem is I've never been a "natural salesperson" so knowing how to naturally sell better ...
I stopped going to a favorite restaurant lately.I loved this restaurant because it was close to my home, the food was good, the portions were fine, they'd work with some of my dietary preferences, and the price was fair.Because of this it my go to restaurant for everything from "date days" with my wife, to a place where we could met up with a group of people (and have everyone find something on the menu they'd like). The problem is ...
Boundaries are important at work, but ...For some of you the challenge you have with boundaries is that they can feel scary to enforce. For others of you the challenge is how to enforce your boundaries without burning bridges. As for me, I'm on the "boundaries are challenging" side of the equation. Whatever side of the boundary divide you're on, here are some big ideas that I've found helpful (after studying rel ...
The huge mistake take so many people in leadership roles make today is mistaking pressuring for leading. They think their role is to push, prod, and pressure their people to success. Oh, ...
When it comes to selling...There are three huge mistakes sales professionals in the multifamily industry make that prevent their customers from saying "yes" to what they're selling. While they're all different, they all share a common theme. LACK OF CLARITYIf you lack clarity when selling, every part of the sales conversation will fail to capture your customer's psychological attention, and make it less likely they will b ...

(In full disclosure, I am not a huge fan of meetings. So when I saw these stats, I felt even more emboldened to share this!)????
LEADERS are you creating MEETING OVERLOAD for your teams?

I was talking to a friend the other day about a meeting she attended a few days before, and she said, "That was another meeting that could have been an email."
That made me laugh. We have ALL been in those meetings! (And, if we're honest, we may have also led those kinds of meetings too.)
Leaders this is crucial...if you want to keep your people encouraged, motivated and productive (in general and when you really do have to have a meeting) don't have unnecessary meetings!
Your people will thank you! ????

Leadership is always such a hot button issue, and for good reason. And while leadership can be a complex issue (after all, people are complex, which means that leading people can be complicated!) one of the most powerful (yet often overlooked) things you can do to improve your leadership effectiveness is to SHOW APPRECIATION to the people you lead. When YOU do this, it motivates your people to perform at their highest levels and helps you to...Leadership is always such a hot button issue, and for good reason.
