LOVE THIS! I think a lot of this is rooted back to not knowing how to hire when a team is already short-staffed. Everybody is running ragged just trying to keep up, and now there is a whole other task of finding a great teammate, which makes it so easy to just get a body in the door. I'd love to hear how people approach that.

So true! I remember a session on hiring at Brainstorming many years ago. The advice was to not get so desperate that you make a hiring mistake. If you find yourself talking yourself into a candidate, like "Well, she was nice! She was wearing shoes." then take a step back.

This is so true! Just because you need bodies, doesn't mean you should lower your expectations.

Agree! Our ED frequently quips, "There's never time to do it right, but always time to do it twice." Lowering standards just to get a warm body is just not good business.
