Hi All, interested in your thoughts: if the property is so understaffed, that the property manager is responding to on call, should they be paid extra? Or no, since they’re salaried?

Brent Williams Such a difficult question. I think it probably depends on how long the situation goes on. There are times when something happens in the short term and everybody rallies around to handle the situation. But if it is long enough that being on call becomes a normal duty, then absolutely. And even if not, there should be some sort of form of appreciation. Being short staffed also means saving money on not having to pay that other person, so they should be able to show appreciation in some way, I would imagine.

Janet Cornett I think there should be some compensation like an additional day off or something to make up for the time away, but as the manager you typically do not expect anything extra. Just want to property to run at its best!

Becky Dotson Wow tough question. I think we would say yes but I'm sure corporate offices would say no because we are salaried. Dinosaur gift card of appreciation would be nice though
