I've ordered new concrete insets before, but not the metal edge the steps sits in. Any clue where to get this from?

Guest Insider Raw steel ok. Galvanized is NOT good for welding. Zinc vapors given off when melted are highly toxic.

Guest Insider We just had to have all of our stairs and stringers replaced for the same reason …it wasn’t a replace the part fix…unfortunately.

eric rivera Almost any concrete fabricator can make these for you!!

Guest Insider We have those and used a concrete fabricator they have standard sizes in stock.

Guest Insider Just cut it out and have the welder install new clips and a bolt on tread. Not going to match but here in Dallas that’s what we do.

Guest Insider Its just a c pearling cut and welded with bolts on the sides. Any fabricating shop should be able to make these. PS metal is stupid high right now!

Chris Finetto You can mix and match (pre-cast and pans) as long as the rise between steps is the same. Doesn’t look great, but gets the job done. To fake it, paint the front edge of the pre-cast concrete step.

Guest Insider You can just have the old metal pan just out and new tabs welded on to the stringer and concrete treads welded in their place.

Tom DeAngelis Get rid of the pan style, use precast drop in instead.

Sarah Bernier I would call a metal fabricator. It’s an easy job. Shouldn’t cost much.
