A simple message to the higher ups at your local corporate office.
When you have an important corporate visit with all of the big bosses coming in town and it requires “all hands on deck”, searching the bushes for trash, staff coming in very early, the least that can be done is provide the team with a lunch.
Little things like that go a long way in making the employees feel valued.

Guest Insider Tank you for saying what exactly was in my head! A property should be ready for a visit - without a heads up!

Guest Insider “Should” in a perfect world. Believe it or not there are properties out there that are suffering from a variety of issues such as staffing shortages, budget cuts, important capital projects neglected, recent ownership/management change, etc.

Brooke Nuber-Soldate That's probably why corporate is visiting - tell them and show them how and why you need help. You have an opportunity to get direct attention on your property by people who may actually be able to do something about it. Use it! They're likely coming to help and get to the bottom of your issues.
And you may not get the answer you want or any answer at all, but treating it like a punishment probably won't yield any better results and just adds stress and resentment.

Guest Insider Wow I can't believe this is not normal. I ALWAYS make sure my sites are at minimum provided lunch on days like this. If I don't have time, I make sure to let them know I expect them to order on pcard. Taking care of the onsite teams is the only way we are successful.

Guest Insider Don’t ever expect Corporate to show onsite personnel value. It’s rare when seen/heard.

Brooke Nuber-Soldate When I came from corporate for a visit we went to 5 properties a day minimum. I had days with 9+ visits. Not everyone gets lunch or a treat for cleaning their property like they're supposed to.
Yes, corporate visits come with added stress, but Corporate is always treated like the job is glamorous and cushy - we're all grinding. We are all working our butts off. You have 1 property to deal with, I had 300.
Now if I was all day at 1 site, yeah, of course we got everyone food. That was rarely the case.
It's not a measure of how much you are valued or appreciated. We're all just trying to get a job done, and corporate is short on time when these visits happen.

Michelle Uecke Or ask for recommendations on where to take the other higher ups but don't invite any of your team

Guest Insider Personally, I feel appreciated when the visit is short and told the property looks good. If u had to come in early to make that happen, then ask if u can leave just as early that day or better yet on a Friday. If that is not possible, feel appreciated with your pay check as "treating" the team is not always possible with time constraints and budgets.
That being said, your manager can always ask the regional if they can treat the team to lunch, corporate employees don't have to be a part of it.

Robert Hoop The great thing about working for a company that owns all of their assets is knowing that they can show up at any time and on any day of the week. Our property owner or a member of the corporate staff pops in unannounced at least one per week. This can sometimes be on the weekend. If everything looks great, they let us know. If there is something that needs some attention they let us know. It keeps the staff on point. You will never find trash on our property.
