Guest Insider And there will always be mold. It just needs to be fixed correctly (and that means removing it) so the problem doesn’t get worse.

Guest Insider Well yea...when there is actual mold it should be fixed and repaired appropriately. What I meant was they always like to say there is even when there isnt.

Resident: yesterday you sent the carpet cleaning guy in and he cleaned my carpets and someone turned on my AC. Why’d you do that. I turned my AC off, and now my carpets still aren’t dry.
Me: ma’am. It’s 95 degrees outside and like 70% humidity. Using your AC will both cool your home and help to remove some of that moisture from the air, which in turn helps your carpets dry more quickly.
Resident: I don’t use my AC, I moved down here (NC) from New York because I didn’t want to use AC.
Me: (internally): hmmm
And yes, this resident is also convinced there is mold in her apartment.

But, I wanted you all to be aware that people like myself do exist and if a resident is complaining about health issues (and I’m not talking about a runny nose, but rather a combination of symptoms such as a runny nose, sinus congestion, difficulty breathing, headaches, inflamed red eyes, blurry vision, etc), I’d take that seriously. That’s how it initially presents and progresses rapidly. We are not a huge portion of the population, but it’s estimated to be approximately 22%. That could potentially be significant for the PM industry. Almost all of the other patents I know were affected in apartments. As a side note, bleach does not kill mold, it essentially hides it and kilz and paint are also temporary and ineffective fixes. Many attempts are made to “rectify” the problem, but the mold still exists, now you just can’t see it for a period of time, but rest assured it’s still doing damage to your property and your Owners investment, not to mention the potential for liability. I sincerely hope someone reads this and hopefully it creates a greater awareness. Show more

Blaise Lanzi Not discounting at all the dangers and health problems that can come with being exposed to mold just found it odd that she would think mold would be occurring that quickly and right in front of her eyes!

Guest Insider Oh the perfect Segway to ask the tenants if it’s been weeks since their AC didn’t work, you know because there is mold apparently. Then you get to inform them that because they did not properly inform management of their AC being out and that mold was growing that they are responsible for remediation. The mold very QUICKLY disappears from the conversation

Guest Insider Agreed. It’s a two way street and they have got to do their part. Tenant negligence doesn’t fall on us.
