Guest InsiderCommercial building and are renting one unit, they do not have to abide by fair housing regulations. However this is sad to see on public display.
Kathi MarieAhh. It’s still a shame to see someone say that.
Guest InsiderKathi Marie I fully agree. I think that families can be some of the best tenants.
Guest InsiderKathi Marie given it’s above a salon/business I can kinda understand why they are looking for someone quiet and no small kids. But still……….
Guest InsiderLooks like a person who has one property and no knowledge of rental prop rules and laws. I have family members who have grandpa’s old house they rent and what they put in the ads would make u cringe. But its only one unit and they are exempt.
Guest InsiderSounds like an unrestricted unit, local regs apply for this reason. Sometimes a unit can be made that is suitable for a unique situation, but you can't obviously build a multifamily with those restrictions. Use or abuse are determined by the regulation.
Kathi MarieIt looks like a private landlord with a building that has residential and commercial. We own a few of those including two buildings that have yoga, studio and salons in them. In 1 million years I would never post that.
Guest InsiderKathi Marie yeah I know that if you are a private landlord that lives in the BLDG and owns less than 4 units they can say no children etc etc but I guess what concerns me is that it's commercial not residential and that is a problem!
Joy ZalaznickKathi Marie however, if they are advertising on the Internet they now fall under Fair Housing laws. Lots of individual and all owners make that mistake.
Miles ScruggsThey don’t allow vaping or boat storage? That is a bit odd.
Laura RenaldoI always message those people and warn them about fair housing language. Wish someone had done that for me early in my career.
