James Shannon Eh, the request is more than likely coming from management or ownership.
They have the right to make that request and the tenants have to follow it or face the consequences.
Is it legal, yea. Is it moral, not really. But the situation got taken care of either way

Guest Insider on the flip side, this story is very one sided. The garden potentially could have been attracting unwanted pests (rats specifically) which could be a much bigger issue. I certainly understand ownership did not respond…..just trying to see both sides.

Guest Insider At My last property we allowed you to buy out of your first eviction filing but if we had to file a 2nd time in a 12 month period we would not accept payment and they had to do. Yes we initially took a little dip in occupancy but then re leased those apts to qualified applicants. Delinquency went from over $100k down to under 2% in less than a year

Guest Insider Contact flex, it’s a program where residents arrange w them a payment plan if approved, flex pays their rent on time then resident pays flex. It’s a worthy program and I’ve used in the past. When knocking on doors doesn’t help as much as expected.

James Weaver That when you sign a lease/lease renewal, you are obligated to fulfill the lease term. Just because you found a house you just couldn't pass up , doesn't mean I have to let you out of your lease, or lessen the lease break fee because you are house poor , or feel you are entitled to special treatment because you have been a good tenant.

Guest Insider Innocent until proven guilty. It may be a pre trial requirement and they don't have a record..yet. You can't treat them differently. Unless it's in the paperwork or application proves fraudulent, I don't think you can deny them.

Guest Insider Got a ‘reasonable accommodation request’ from one of our senior communities. She wanted me to remove the bark and bushes that have stickers from our garden beds because it bothered her DOG’S paws when she was walking him/her in the gardens.  Um for starters, it’s a garden, you’re not supposed to walk your dog in it. Two, your dog is not covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
